wash once in the morning and once at night

The first step to clear skin is always a good cleansing routine! Read on to find out why.

Once you find out what kind of skin you have and what type of products to use, it’s important to follow a ritual when it comes to washing your face.

Wash in the morning…

While you sleep, oil and dead skin cells build up in your pores. Washing your face first thing in the morning gets rid of whatever settles in your skin overnight, keeping pimples and blackheads from forming. Another plus: washing when you rise can help wake you up! What better than starting your day on a refreshing note?!

…And again at night.

So you washed your face in the morning. Why wash again at night? Because you’ll want to get rid of all the dirt and oil that has settled in your pores throughout the day. Think about it: Are you exposed to pollution? Do you wear makeup? Do you touch your face often, exposing your skin to more germs and dirt? Imagine leaving all that junk on your skin while you sleep. No, thanks!

Avoid over-washing too!

Washing your face too many times does more harm than good! Unless recommended by a doctor, washing more than twice a day is a no-no. It can strip your face of its natural and essential oils. Why is that a bad thing? Because your face needs some amount of essential oils to stay healthy and moisturised. If you dry out your skin, your body overcompensates and produces even more oil – which could lead to a breakout. The key to a great cleansing routine – and clear skin – is always balance.
